I had actually tried one of these sets before. The see-through lace shirt with the up-waist skirt. All black with pink lips... looked pretty good, I think.

Show-stopping: Lady Gaga drew attention to herself in a flamboyant white tiered gown and towering wig at the Brit Awards in London last night. Her onstage outfit was rather less demure as Gaga performed in a sheer bodysuit with lace detail.

Ensuring all eyes were on her, the singer sashayed confidently into London's Earls Court but it was anyone's guess as to who exactly inspired the trend.

Futuristic fashion in 2010

The futuristic influences upon fashion in 2010 are far and wide. We've seen everything from the re-interpretation of 1960s views of space age fashion (like the raised collars and metallic fabrics at Louise Goldin), through to reptilian eco-evolutionary creatures at Alexander McQueen and Julien MacDonald; while the likes of Karl Lagerfeld had metallic foil detailing which more called to mind the abstract art of the original early 20th century futurists, who revered technology and speed.

If anything the continual thread through it all is a deep contemplation about what the future might hold. There's wonder more so than excitement; and, for some, trepidation. Science, technology, and the environment - and humankind's effect on the world - are playing upon many minds. But it's not all doom and gloom. Futuristic themes can be fun and playful, as well as stark and fierce.

As the mtv channel disappeared from my channel list a while ago, I just got the chance to watch the video "I can transform ya" by Chris Brown and Lil'Wayne last week, at the gym.

And all I could think was "What?". I couldn't even listen to the song. That video is the most sexist thing I watched these days.

It literally compares women to cars in that sort of "pimp ma b*tch" style. I was disgusted. How can any girl like that? You don't feel offended? Generations of women fought through the times to free us from social prejudice and now we are giving in again. It's so, so sad!

Anyway, here you got the video. The song is kinda stupid too:

After the Rihanna episode this ain't a nice bet if you want your credibility back next to your female fans, righ, Chris?

Underwear as Outwear

You've probably been seeing a lot of pictures where lingerie or lingerie-inspired pieces are worn as outwear, here in my blog and also around.
The truth is a new tendency is born. Half grunge, half sexy and with burlesque influences, this ain't a style everyone can give in to. Even a couple days ago my mum freaked out when i left wearing a babydoll with a blazer and jeans as you could see my bra through the babydoll. So what? A lot of things worn today were totally impossible hundreds of years ago. And "see-through" style comes from ancient indian or arabic dancer's clothing. Keep your mind open:

1) Exposed Holdups

The basic... let the world see your holdups wearing them shamelessly with shorts or a short dress. Here, Mischa Barton standardizes her look, wearing it all black with almost opaque socks.

2) Bodies

A lil' bit too much, in my opinion. Sienna Miller goes for a body worn over the tights. I'd say, unless you're a movie star or going to a tematic private party, you shouldn't risk this much.

3) Nightwear

Nightwear worn as dresses is okay, from dressing gowns to babydolls. They even came to actually inspire dresses:

4) Suspenders and Garters

When it comes to denim cut-offs in general the trick is always to have the pockets showing from out the bottom. Why? The showing pocket implies a shorter short and a longer leg. It can also be used creatively as with this example - to hook suspenders onto.

For the day, pick a funny/patterned bra and mix it with a plain top.

For the night, lace is the better option.

This shoot has already one year but I'd like to remind it since I think Lady Gaga was one of the great personalities of 2009. About the discussion going on Fashionising.com "What do you think of Lady Gaga's fashion?" the only thing I can say is that I'm shocked that people can be so hard on celebrities, forgetting they're people just like them. She's a singer and performer, who cares if her ass is big or whatever? This was my reply to some of those "lovely" statements:

"OMG you mean people. What's the purpose of that statements? Lady Gaga is an excellent artist yeah she may be crazy but David Bowie or Queen also acted crazy, wore crazy outfits and no one says anything why just because they're men? Lady Gaga is a successful woman who gets out of the social patterns of what a successful woman should be. She's okay with her body, she wears what she wants, she talks about sex SO WHAT? Stop being so narrow-minded she's an icon for the new generations. I'm glad she got what she got and I'm a big fan."

My new year party was a blast! I'm glad I didn't stay at my hometown just because I have to study hahaha

I just bought what I really wanted 2 buy (top, fake fur vest and the boots) cuz I'm running out of time to work on my project before leaving for the new year party. Plus, there's a thing I just HATE about sales: the shops are such a mess, everyone is running around and taking things and then throwing them out and shouting. I can't take that, I like to make my shopping relaxed.

Anyway, I already picked the new year party outfit and I decided not to buy a new dress and wear one I never had the chance to put on and I just love it! Ok, it's not that reveillon-style glamorous but I just wanna rock it out :)

Now I'm going back to work as I need to make a little presentation in... 2 hours!

I got this awsome book which combines a lot of pics shot at Portugal 'til 2003. There are several themes from fashion or archictecture to wildlife or the simple life of people from the countryside or urban centers.

Here are some of my favorites, I'm thinking of turning them into posters to my room as I'm making changes on it.

Now a little off-topic... I usually don't write about my personal life in this blog but I really feel like I have to put down on words the mess going on my head right now. Maybe you guys will help me or not, that's not the point. The thing is I'm really really confused, under pressure, worried, nervous... I just finished classes with all the delivers and everything and now exams are coming up. Things didn't work fine and now I'm scared. I need to work a lot on my project and everytime I start one I seriously doubt of my ability to become an architect. Will I ever be able to be pratical and decide what suits best for each situation? And that is appliable to all my life!

Now see, I'm really falling for this guy who studies in my college. We get along pretty well but I don't have the guts to tell him the way I feel... I'm afraid to screw it and he'll never talk to me again. Plus, he has a girlfriend. Fucked up, uh? I had a kind of affair too but the guy he's gone. He was just studyin' here and now he 's back home. Oh, then I started going out with another guy a couple weeks ago but I don't want to go any further...

Oh mess, mess, mess! I'm not a slut, ok? Most of my time I just don't have anyone. Now I lost my mind.

•Knee socks that finish below the knee may compliment your bone structure more than those knee high socks which finish above the knee. Try both styles on.

•Knee high socks that cut off just below the knee are more likely to give you a slimmer look, as going only a short distance above the knee could result in socks that 'bulge' on your knee.

•Thigh high socks provide a perfect alternative to exposed stay-ups from 2010's lingerie as outerwear fashion trend.

•If you're short, knee high socks that cut off below the knee are best paired with a shorter hemline to expose more leg and, thus, imply greater height. The hem should be no lower than the middle of your thigh.

•If you're in a colder climate then knitted socks might work for you. But avoid chunky and overt knitted socks: they were last a fashion trend back in 2007, and trends seldom repeat themselves so quickly.
